Exhaustion. Aching, head, back, limbs… and mind. I am worn out from a terrible nights sleep and 6 hours of a stressful school day. As I groggily stumble to my next class I remember something. The 1% of my brain that is not asleep gives me a sudden boost of energy as it awaits the pure caffeine I am about to consume. For during 7th hour I will be creating the world’s best energy drink. I quickly grab the materials from my locker and sprint down into class. It takes me a few minutes to put my secret concoction together and then finally… '‘IT’S ALIVE!!!” The behemoth of a beverage is complete. I take a deep breath and down the whole thing… or at least I try to. It is so strong that even it’s creator can only take a sip at a time. “It’s stronger than monster, even red bull. It’s… pure energy.” For the next few minutes I bounce off the walls, literally. My entire body feels rushed and I am debating writing a will before the heart attack comes. But then… I crash. The once rushed and full of energy is now drained and ready to sleep about 5,000 years. My blood feels like concrete and every step is as if I am lifting elephants. “Oh God, i think i’m gonna die…” I mumble as I lay back in my chair. Mrs. Gurney just smiles as if to say “ Told ya” As I contemplate whether or not it was worth it time speed up and it is time to go to math. I barely make it out the door and I realize. “I’m probably worse off then when I started.”
This is probably a problem many teenagers face. hey want a short and easy way out of things. I didn’t need that energy drink, I could have tried harder to acquire a better sleep schedule, but instead I took the easy way out. And in this situation, as well as others, the easy way out had consequences. Hopefully I learn my lesson from this experience, but then again nobody’s perfect.
